The Balochistan government has announced a major healthcare initiative by declaring the Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) as a “Balochistan Health Card” to expand access to medical services across the province.
Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti said the move aims to provide state-of-the-art healthcare facilities to residents, making treatment more accessible and efficient.
Under the initiative, patients can avail free medical services at leading hospitals within Balochistan as well as across the country.
According to official figures, over 345,000 patients have already benefited from the health card program. The scheme has facilitated thousands of critical procedures, including 7,784 angioplasties and 575 bypass surgeries.
Additionally, free treatment has been provided to 304 children suffering from heart diseases.
The program has also supported maternal healthcare, with 24,688 normal deliveries and 20,344 C-section operations conducted under the scheme.
Bugti reiterated that improving healthcare remains a top priority for his government. He emphasized that no patient should be denied treatment under the health card program and directed authorities to ensure timely payments to hospitals.
The initiative is part of broader efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and ensure quality medical services for all citizens of Balochistan.
