Anthropic has released Claude Fable 5, the first publicly available version of its Mythos-class model.

Other than strong performance in software engineering, knowledge work, vision, scientific research, and long-running tasks, Fable 5 is also capable of creating playable games in a single prompt.

The discovery comes from Ethan Mollick, an AI researcher, who created several games with a single initial prompt using Claude Code. The examples included Snake, Strata, and Duino. You can check out the gameplay footage for each one in the original report .

Snake is a simple arcade-style game where the player controls a Pac-Man-like snake that moves around eating apples. The snake keeps moving, and the player loses if it goes off-screen.

Strata is an exploration game set inside a network of underground tunnels. The goal is to light as many lanterns as possible. The visuals may be rough, but the game worked from a single prompt, which is quite impressive.

Mollick also created Duino, a game based on Rainer Maria Rilke’s Duino Elegies. The game features a lone figure walking through a dark landscape while passages from Rilke appear on screen.

Mollick also used Fable 5 to create an isochronic map.

An isochronic map shows how long it takes to travel between different locations. The example stood out because of its detail and accuracy, according to the report.

The tests show how far AI coding tools have moved beyond simple code completion.

Fable 5 generated playable games, mapping tools, and other software outputs from high-level instructions. These are tasks that previously required more manual work from developers, designers, and product teams.

The results also matter for people using AI-assisted coding tools. If models can create working games and tools from one prompt, the barrier to building small software projects continues to fall.

Claude Fable 5 is still new, and early demos do not prove that it can replace full development teams in all real-world projects.

However, Mollick’s tests show that Anthropic’s latest model can handle longer and more complex software tasks than earlier public models.

For developers, founders, and AI tool users, Fable 5 is another sign that the baseline capability of public AI models is rising quickly.
