A 90-year-old widow in Kot Addu has finally regained possession of her property after a 56-year struggle, following action by the local administration against illegal occupants.

The case relates to one kanal and three marlas of land in Mouza Bait Qaim Wala, Basti Gaadi, where two of the woman’s close relatives, identified as Jahangir and Muhammad Rashid, had allegedly remained in illegal occupation of the property for more than five decades.

According to officials, repeated efforts by local elders and community members over the years failed to resolve the dispute or secure the land’s return.

The breakthrough came after the widow’s grandson, Ejaz Ahmad, filed an application with the Assistant Commissioner in Kot Addu, seeking official intervention. The assistant commissioner then sought a report from the revenue department, which found that Jahangir and Muhammad Rashid had no legal ownership or connection to the land.

Following the verification, the elderly woman was declared the rightful owner of the property.

The assistant commissioner then directed Qanoongo Maqsood Gujjar and Patwari Shahid Khan Chandia to take action.

With police support, the administration reached the site, removed the illegal occupants, and handed over possession of the land to the widow.

Residents praised the move, saying the woman had finally received justice after enduring decades of hardship in trying to recover her property.
