The owner of popular dessert chain Wafflix was found dead in Karachi, days after he was allegedly kidnapped from his home in the city’s PECHS area.

The victim, 25-year-old Mir Raza Ali, was the son of Mir Hassan Ali and operated the Wafflix outlet near Bahadurabad Chowrangi.

According to police, his body was recovered from bushes near Shadi Qila wedding hall in Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block 1 and shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for a post-mortem examination.

Investigators said the body appeared to have been lying at the site for one to two days. Police also found apparent burn marks on parts of the body, making identification difficult. Raza’s father was able to identify him through the clothes he was wearing.

Authorities also discovered an injury mark on the victim’s back. Police said the exact cause of death will be determined after the post-mortem report is completed.

According to Ferozabad Police, preliminary findings suggest Raza may have been tortured before being shot. SHO Kamran Qureshi said investigators are collecting CCTV footage from cameras installed around the wedding hall in an effort to identify and trace those responsible.

A kidnapping case had already been registered at Ferozabad Police Station on Tuesday after Raza’s father reported him missing.

According to the FIR, Raza returned home from his dessert shop during the night between July 27 and 28. At around 4 a.m., he told his mother he was stepping outside for about 10 minutes but never returned.

When his family attempted to contact him, his mobile phone was switched off. After searching for him and contacting Madadgar 15, the family approached the police, who registered a case against unidentified suspects.

The killing has triggered an outpouring of grief on social media, with customers, friends, and fellow entrepreneurs mourning the young businessman. Many have also expressed concern over Karachi’s law and order situation and called for those responsible to be brought to justice.
