Vivo has introduced the TWS 5 Pro wireless earbuds alongside the X Fold6 foldable smartphone.
The earbuds feature a dual-driver system, a dedicated Hi-Fi DAC, lossless audio transmission over Wi-Fi, and active noise cancellation of up to 60dB. They also support three simultaneous connections and offer up to 50 hours of total battery life.
Each earbud uses a custom ultra-miniature balanced armature driver developed by Vivo and Knowles.
It is paired with Vivo’s own dual-ring dynamic driver. The two drivers use a coaxial layout that aligns their acoustic centres to improve the consistency of high and low frequencies.
Vivo says the system covers a frequency range of 16Hz to 60kHz. The earbuds also include a custom Hi-Fi DAC developed with Cirrus Logic. It provides a dynamic range of 113dB. The TWS 5 Pro supports native 96kHz/24-bit audio playback and lossless Wi-Fi transmission at up to 4.6Mbps.
They also support LE Audio, ISOC architecture, and the LC3 codec. Vivo claims latency can fall as low as 42 milliseconds for gaming and other time-sensitive audio.
The earbuds use four microphones and Vivo’s Deep Sea Smart Noise Cancellation 2.0 system.
Active noise cancellation reaches up to 60dB and operates across a bandwidth of up to 5,500Hz. Vivo also claims that the earbuds can suppress up to 99.9 percent of everyday environmental noise.
Adaptive noise cancellation and transparency modes automatically adjust according to the surrounding environment.
Dedicated profiles are available for aeroplanes, underground trains, and buses. The earbuds also include a sleep aid mode and an immersion mode.
For calls, the TWS 5 Pro uses a VPU bone-conduction microphone. Vivo claims environmental call-noise reduction of up to 100dB and wind-noise reduction of up to 99 percent.
The Vivo TWS 5 Pro can connect to as many as three devices at the same time. Pressure-sensitive controls on the earbuds support customisable gestures for music playback, calls, and switching between noise-control modes.
Users can also slide across the controls to adjust the volume. The earbuds carry an IP54 rating for protection against dust and water splashes.
The TWS 5 Pro supports wireless charging and fast charging. Vivo says a five-minute charge provides up to two hours of playback.
The earbuds can provide up to 5 hours of listening time in Wi-Fi audio mode. Battery life increases to 11 hours with the AAC Bluetooth codec, while the charging case extends the total to up to 50 hours.
The Vivo TWS 5 Pro is available in two colors: White and Black.
The earbuds carry Hi-Res Audio Wireless certification and certification from Vivo’s Golden Ears Acoustics Laboratory.
A Clear Vocals sound mode was developed with the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. The TWS 5 Pro also supports spatial audio with several simulated listening environments, real-time Adaptive Audio, and personalised sound profiles based on the user’s ears.
A customisable 10-band equaliser allows further sound adjustments. The earbuds have received QQ Music Premium Sound Quality and NetEase Cloud Music Professional Equipment certifications.
Software features include Smart Translation, Dialogue Translation, and AI Smart Broadcast notifications. They also support Wireless Karaoke Audio Return, remote camera controls, voice commands, and automatic wear detection.
Other functions include prolonged-wear reminders, Find My Earbuds, information broadcasts, and incoming-call announcements.
Users can customise the connection pop-up theme and generate personalised pop-up artwork through Xiao V Painting.
The earbuds are currently available in China for a starting price of around $147. Knowing Vivo’s track record, the TWS 5 Pro should also launch internationally soon, though there is no confirmation as of yet.
