A new agreement between Pakistani and US-based education foundations aims to create professional opportunities in the United States for Pakistani nurses and other qualified healthcare professionals. The American Pakistan Education Foundation, a subsidiary of the American Pakistani Public Affairs Committee (APPAC), and the Pakistan Education Foundation (Pak-EEF) are set to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in New York.

A new agreement between Pakistani and US-based education foundations aims to create professional opportunities in the United States for Pakistani nurses and other qualified healthcare professionals.

The American Pakistan Education Foundation, a subsidiary of the American Pakistani Public Affairs Committee (APPAC), and the Pakistan Education Foundation (Pak-EEF) are set to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in New York.

APPAC Foundation President Dr. Ejaz Ahmed and Pak-EEF CEO Syeda Hajra Sohail will sign the agreement, which will establish a framework for cooperation in medical education, professional training, certification and career development.

The MoU will also help develop pathways for qualified Pakistani healthcare professionals to meet US licensing and professional requirements and access potential employment opportunities.

As part of the initiative, APPAC Foundation will seek partnerships with US hospitals, healthcare systems, nursing facilities, educational institutions and professional organizations interested in hiring qualified healthcare workers.

Pak-EEF will identify and support nurses and other healthcare professionals interested in further education and professional opportunities in the US. It will also assist candidates with exam preparation, licensing, documentation and other requirements.

The initiative builds on Pak-EEF’s NCLEX Nurse Placement Program, which received 2,759 registrations nationwide. Following a selection process, 300 nurses were chosen for training. More than 80 nurses have already obtained NCLEX licenses, while over 220 others are currently going through the examination process.

The project was initiated with support from New York State Assembly Deputy Speaker Phil Ramos. APPAC board members have also visited Pakistan twice to discuss nursing education, healthcare workforce development and institutional cooperation.

The new MoU could further expand collaboration between Pakistani and US institutions, including scholarships, training programs, faculty development and professional exchanges. A joint working group is also expected to be established to oversee future cooperation.
