The University of Health Sciences (UHS) has approved seven new certificate courses aimed at improving research capacity, clinical skills, laboratory standards, and scientific communication for students in health sciences disciplines.
The approval was granted during the 225th meeting of the Advanced Studies and Research Board, which was chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof. Ahsan Waheed Rathore.
Among the newly approved programs is the Certificate in Quality Management for Clinical Laboratories and Blood Banking, which is intended to strengthen quality assurance practices and standardization in diagnostic labs and transfusion services.
The board also cleared six other certificate courses covering key academic and professional areas, including research methodology, clinical epidemiology, evidence-based medicine, clinical trials management, research ethics, grant writing, research communication, innovation, and translational research.
The new programs include a Certificate in Research Methodology and Clinical Exposure for MBBS, BDS, and nursing students, as well as a Certificate in Research Methodology and Laboratory Research Skills for allied health sciences students.
An advanced certificate focusing on research methodology, biostatistics, clinical epidemiology, and evidence-based medicine was also approved.
In addition, the board gave the go-ahead to certificate courses in Clinical Trials Management, Grant Writing and Research Communication, Innovation and Translational Research, and Research Ethics and Bioethics.
During the same meeting, the board also reviewed and approved thesis evaluation reports of postgraduate students from multiple disciplines, including pediatric surgery, anesthesia, pediatrics, radiology, and community medicine.
