A petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court challenging the assignment of a daily target of 25 challans to traffic wardens.

The petitioner stated that the issuance of traffic challans is being turned into a revenue-generating campaign.

According to the plea, the quota system violates citizens’ fundamental rights, and setting a daily target for wardens amounts to misuse of authority.

The petition argued that issuing challans without violations is unacceptable and warned that the policy could lead to unjustified and baseless fines. It further stated that the move is turning the traffic police into a collection department.

The petitioner requested the court to immediately halt the quota system and to call for the relevant notifications and orders related to the policy.
