The Lahore Grammar School (LGS) is reportedly forcing students to continue attending classes well into the summer break despite the Punjab government’s decision to shut all public and private educational institutions from May 22, 2026, to August 24, 2026 due to severe heatwave conditions.

Students from the LGS Senior Boys branch in 364 E Block, Johar Town, Lahore are receiving messages by the school administration, ordering Grade XI students to continue with regular classes until Wednesday, June 10, 2026.

The message further states that while online classes will be held on Friday and Saturday in line with the government notification, the school’s summer break will only begin from Thursday, June 11, 2026.

The same message also says the school will reopen on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, which is much earlier than the government-announced end date of August 24 for summer vacations.

The issue is likely to raise fresh questions about whether private schools are complying with provincial directives issued in response to the ongoing heatwave and whether students are being placed under unnecessary academic pressure during an officially notified closure period.
