Heavy rain and strong winds around Allama Iqbal International Airport caused significant disruption to flight operations on Sunday, forcing several aircraft to remain airborne as landing conditions became unsafe.

According to aviation sources, Air Traffic Control (ATC) denied landing permission to multiple domestic and international flights due to poor visibility and high wind speeds.

Among the affected flights was PF 145 arriving from Karachi, which was forced to circle over the city after ATC officials determined the weather was too hazardous for a touchdown.

Similarly, international flights encountered delays, including Flight OD 131 from Kuala Lumpur and AirAsia Flight PF 787 from Dubai. Both aircraft were instructed to remain in a holding pattern until weather conditions improved.

Airport authorities stated that the temporary suspension was a necessary safety precaution to ensure runway security and passenger safety during the storm.

While some flights were cleared for landing as the intensity of the rain subsided, many passengers experienced significant delays. Airport staff continue to monitor the weather closely to manage the backlog of arrivals and departures.
