The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has denied a viral gas supply schedule circulating on WhatsApp, calling it fake and clarifying that it has not issued any such notification.
The viral Urdu-language message claims that gas would be available daily from 5:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., with limited or no gas supply outside those hours.
The message has been widely shared across WhatsApp groups, prompting concern among consumers, particularly in Karachi. Responding to the claim, SSGC spokesperson Salman Ahmed Siddiqui said the viral schedule is “absolutely fake” and has no connection with the company.
He said SSGC issues all official notifications through its website and shares them with print and electronic media. Siddiqui added that the company has noticed dozens of similar fake posts circulating on social media to attract likes and engagement.
SSGC urged consumers to rely only on its official communication channels for updates regarding gas supply and other service-related announcements.
