The Korean Embassy’s 2026 K-Wave Festa at Serena Hotel Islamabad drew heavy public attention after social media users reported overcrowding and mismanagement at the venue.
The Embassy of the Republic of Korea had scheduled the cultural event for May 2 at the SBC Lawn of the Serena Hotel. The event was planned from 3 PM to 8 PM and was open to the public free of charge.
The festival was designed to promote Korean culture in Pakistan. It included K-pop performances, a K-beauty masterclass, Taekwondo demonstrations, Korean food, crafts, tourism activities, and other cultural experiences.
However, videos and posts on Instagram later claimed that the event faced serious crowd management issues.
Several users said a large number of people reached the venue, while others complained that entry became difficult and the arrangements could not handle the turnout.
The Korean Embassy also issued an event completion notice, stating that due to overcrowding at the venue, the event concluded earlier than planned.
