Sony is bringing its latest wearable AC, the Reon Pocket Pro Plus, to the international market after developing the Reon Pocket lineup in Japan since 2019.

The compact device rests on the back of the user’s neck and works as a personal AC.

Sony said the Reon Pocket Pro Plus improves cooling performance by 20% compared with the previous generation.

The cooling plate can drop by an additional 2 degrees Celsius, which should make the device feel colder against the skin during outdoor use.

Sony has also updated the physical design with a flexible neckband that grips the shoulders more securely. This helps keep the main unit in place while walking or bending.

The exhaust vent is now adjustable, allowing users to extend it and change the angle so hot air does not get trapped under a high collar or jacket.

The device uses dual thermo modules and sensors to monitor skin temperature. Through the companion app, users can set a target temperature, while smart modes automatically adjust output as the surrounding environment changes.

The Reon Pocket Pro Plus also includes physical side buttons for turning the device on and switching between heating and cooling modes without using a phone.

Sony said the battery lasts up to 15 hours on the smart cooling setting. The device also operates quietly enough for indoor or workplace use.

Sony is offering a companion accessory called the Wearable Sensing Device, also known as the Reon Pocket Tag 2. The small sensor clips to a bag or belt loop and measures ambient temperature and humidity, sending that data to the main unit for more accurate adjustments.

It is priced at about $268.
