The Sindh government has approved the establishment of modern vehicle inspection centers across the province under the public-private partnership (PPP) model.
The initiative aims to improve road safety and reduce environmental pollution caused by unfit commercial vehicles.
The decision was taken during the 52nd meeting of the PPP Policy Board chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah at the CM House on Friday.
According to an official statement, the meeting reviewed and approved several strategic projects in infrastructure, transport, education, technology, and industrial development, aimed at supporting Sindh’s socio-economic growth through public-private partnerships.
Officials informed the meeting that faulty commercial vehicles were contributing to road accidents and environmental pollution, while the existing vehicle fitness system lacked effective monitoring and inspection mechanisms.
To address these issues, the provincial government plans to establish the inspection centers in collaboration with the private sector. The system will be fully digital, allowing vehicle owners to book inspection appointments online.
The project will also include an awareness campaign regarding the mobile vehicle inspection facility.
Speaking during the meeting, CM Murad Ali Shah said the initiative would help improve road safety and environmental standards in the province. He described the project as an important step toward improving the fitness and performance of commercial vehicles in Sindh.
The PPP Policy Board also approved competitive bidding for the selection of private investors to set up and operate the inspection centers.
