Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Friday inaugurated the 39-kilometer signal-free Shahrah-e-Bhutto corridor from Qayyumabad to the M-9 Motorway and laid the foundation stone for the next phase connecting the route to Karachi Port.

The inauguration ceremony for Phase III of the project was held in Karachi, after which the road was opened for traffic up to the Kathore Bridge on the M-9 Motorway.

Murad Ali Shah and other senior Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leaders also attended the ceremony. Addressing the ceremony, Bilawal said the PPP had completed several major development projects in Karachi and described Shahrah-e-Bhutto as an important infrastructure project for the city. Murad Ali Shah said the project took around four years to complete and would help improve traffic flow between Karachi and other parts of the country.

The chief minister added that the Qayyumabad-to-port section would also be completed under a public-private partnership at an estimated cost of Rs. 65 billion. According to officials, Shahrah-e-Bhutto Phase III was completed at a cost of around Rs. 65 billion.
