The Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi recently visited the Simly Dam for an in-depth review of its current operations and future expansion plans.
The dam, which provides 40% of the water supply to Islamabad, plays a crucial role in sustaining the capital’s water needs.
During the briefing, Minister Naqvi was informed about the plans for the expansion of the Simly Dam. To ensure a steady and sufficient water supply, he requested a comprehensive, actionable plan for its enlargement.
He emphasized that expanding the dam would guarantee ample water availability, particularly during the dry seasons.
In addition to discussing water-related concerns, Federal Minister Mohsin Naqvi also assessed the surrounding area of the dam. He instructed officials to prepare a detailed development plan to boost recreational activities in the region.
According to Mohsin Naqvi, the area around Simly Dam holds immense potential for tourism and leisure activities, which can be further developed to benefit the community.
The development of recreational opportunities, including water sports, is expected to not only boost the local economy but also provide employment opportunities for the people living nearby.
Federal Minister Mohsin Naqvi expressed optimism that the region could attract both local and international visitors, contributing to the overall growth of the area.
The development project will also provide residents with access to world-class recreational facilities. The Chief Commissioner of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), the Inspector General of Islamabad Police, and other relevant officials were present during the visit, showing their commitment to the successful realization of the project.
