Authorities in the federal capital, Islamabad, have banned the O-Level book “The History and Culture of Pakistan.”
The ICT Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (ICT PERA) has directed all private schools to immediately remove the book from their curriculum, libraries, and classrooms.
The administration also announced that private educational institutions will not be allowed to include any book in their syllabus without obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC).
Surprise inspection teams have been formed to check for the presence of banned books in schools.
Officials warned that schools violating the orders will face legal action and fines. Meanwhile, authorities have also decided to conduct raids on bookshops, declaring the sale of books without NOC approval illegal.
