The Supreme Court of Pakistan has successfully integrated advanced technology into its judicial system, marking a major shift towards a faster, more transparent, and citizen-centric justice process.

According to an official statement, the court has operationalized seamless multi-location hearings, allowing judges, lawyers, and litigants to participate from different cities without physical presence.

In a recent hearing, the bench sat at the principal seat in Islamabad, while lawyers joined simultaneously from Quetta, Hyderabad, and Karachi, ensuring smooth proceedings and equal access.

Chief Justice Yahya Afridi presided over proceedings from Islamabad, while Justice Ayesha A Malik joined remotely from Lahore, demonstrating the system’s flexibility and efficiency.

The court has also transitioned to fully digitized case files, reducing reliance on physical records and significantly improving speed and transparency. This eliminates the need to retrieve files from registries and allows instant access during hearings.

Key reforms include digital case filing, barcode-based tracking, electronic transmission of court orders, online payment systems, video-link hearings, and the introduction of an e-office system.

Officials said these measures represent a paradigm shift in judicial functioning, making the system more accessible, efficient, and responsive. By removing geographical barriers, the court aims to deliver justice more inclusively and effectively across Pakistan.
