Heavy rainfall in Islamabad has raised the water level in Rawal Dam to 1,748.30 feet, prompting authorities to open the spillways at 6 am on Saturday.
The district administration has directed all relevant departments to remain alert and ensure a timely response to any emergency. Citizens have also been advised to stay away from streams, drains and flood channels.
Officials said water flow in Korang Nullah is expected to increase after the spillways are opened. Residents in nearby localities have been urged to remain cautious and avoid crossing the nullah or temporary bridges if the water level rises.
The district administration has asked the public to contact officials immediately in case of any emergency.
