Heavy rainfall in Rawalpindi has pushed the water level in Nullah Lai close to the critical evacuation mark, prompting authorities to issue an alert for residents in low-lying areas.

According to the alert, the water level at Katarian rose to 19.5 feet, just below the 20-foot evacuation threshold, while the level at Gwalmandi reached 13 feet.

Residents living in low-lying areas along Nullah Lai have been urged to move to safe locations immediately.

The warning comes after heavy rain raised water levels rapidly in the area.
