Summer learning camps began in public and private schools across Punjab on Monday after the provincial government permitted academic activities during the summer vacation period.
However, parents and students have complained that some private schools are allegedly making attendance compulsory despite official instructions stating that participation is voluntary and subject to parental consent.
Concerns have also been raised over reports that certain schools are conducting examinations and holding classes beyond the prescribed timings of 7am to 10am, contrary to the guidelines issued by the School Education Department (SED).
Parents argue that such practices violate government directives and place additional pressure on students during the vacation period.
Under the official guidelines, schools have been instructed to ensure indoor activities and provide facilities such as clean drinking water, proper ventilation and first aid arrangements. Students attending the camps have also been exempted from wearing uniforms.
Stakeholders have urged the School Education Department to take action against institutions found violating the notified rules and conditions for the summer camps.
