Punjab Safe Cities Authority has launched a dedicated Universal Access Number for Emergency-15, enabling citizens to access Punjab’s emergency and support services from anywhere in Pakistan and abroad.
The new facility has been introduced at the direction of the Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, to resolve a key issue faced by people living outside the province.
Previously, when citizens of Punjab called Emergency-15 from other provinces, their calls were routed to that province’s emergency system rather than to the Punjab Police.
Overseas Pakistanis also faced difficulties in directly contacting the Punjab Police during urgent situations related to the safety of their families, property, or loved ones in Punjab.
Under the new system, citizens outside Punjab can dial 042-111-111-015, while overseas Pakistanis can contact Emergency-15 through +92-42-111-111-015. The service will remain available 24/7.
The universal access number will also connect citizens with other services, including the Virtual Women Police Station, Virtual Centre for Child Safety, Virtual Blood Bank, Meesaq Minority Help Line, Traffic Services, Psychological Support, and Free Legal Aid Services.
According to the PSCA, the first-of-its-kind citizen facilitation initiative aims to use modern technology to provide quick and effective support to citizens and improve Punjab’s emergency assistance system.
