The Punjab government has proposed a massive Honhaar Scholarship Program worth Rs1.72 trillion aimed at expanding access to higher education for talented and deserving students across the province.
For the fiscal year 2026–27, the government has also suggested allocating Rs33.25 billion under the program to provide financial assistance to students pursuing higher education.
The initiative is designed to support bright students facing financial constraints and ensure equal educational opportunities across Punjab.
Students from major districts, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, Okara, and Sahiwal, are expected to benefit from the program.
Officials said the scholarship scheme aims to promote human resource development, improve educational standards, and strengthen merit-based support for students across the province.
The initiative is expected to help thousands of students who struggle with financial barriers to complete higher education.
The program has been included in budget documents as one of the key welfare projects of the Punjab government. Authorities added that the government remains committed to investing in youth education and ensuring merit-based financial assistance.
