The Government of Punjab has launched a deceased transfer service in Rawalpindi to facilitate the transportation of bodies from hospitals to homes.
The service, introduced as a pilot project, is being operated by Rescue 1122, which has established dedicated booths at major hospitals, including Holy Family Hospital, Benazir Bhutto Hospital, District Headquarters Hospital, and Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology.
According to the District Emergency Officer, seven vehicles have initially been allocated for the service. On its first day, three deceased individuals were transported from hospitals to their homes.
Officials said the deceased transfer service is being piloted in three districts across Punjab, with Rawalpindi among the first to implement the initiative.
The project aims to provide timely and organised support to families during emergencies by ensuring safe and efficient transportation of deceased individuals from healthcare facilities.
