Senior Punjab Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb has announced plans to establish a state-of-the-art cancer hospital in Rawalpindi, modeled after the Nawaz Sharif Cancer Hospital in Lahore, as part of the Punjab government’s efforts to improve healthcare services. Speaking during a visit to Commercial Market and the renovated Model Bazaar in Raja Bazaar, Aurangzeb said the government is upgrading public hospitals across the province, while Lahore is being developed into the “Nawaz Sharif Medical District” with 11 modern hospitals under construction.

She said the proposed cancer hospital in Rawalpindi will strengthen the city’s healthcare infrastructure alongside existing facilities such as the Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology and the Kidney Hospital.

Aurangzeb also highlighted ongoing development projects in Rawalpindi, including the Katchery Chowk underpass, the Rawalpindi Ring Road, the electric bus service, and the Suthra Punjab cleanliness program.

She added that the government has approved a parking plaza for Raja Bazaar under the Annual Development Program 2027 to help ease traffic congestion and parking issues in the area.
