Punjab has decided to introduce satellite internet service as part of its plan to accelerate digital connectivity across the province.

PML-N leader and Punjab Chief Minister’s Senior Adviser Senator Anusha Rahman announced the decision while speaking at a leadership summit at a private university in Lahore.

The summit focused on blockchain technology and digital assets. Participants also discussed the role of emerging technologies in Pakistan’s digital future.

Rahman said the Punjab government is focusing on high-speed internet access in underserved areas. She said satellite internet will help connect villages, schools, colleges and hospitals across the province.

She added that people already have an interest in using digital technology, but many areas still lack basic connectivity.

Rahman said Punjab is launching a “Connect the Unconnected” mission to address this gap.

She said the government will soon begin providing internet through satellite technology in the public sector. She added that the provincial IT Department is already working on modern connectivity projects.

Rahman also said the government plans to connect 6 million young people with modern technology over the next four years.
