The Punjab government has approved scholarships worth more than Rs. 60 million for nearly 500 students from Gilgit-Baltistan under the Chief Minister’s Honhaar Scholarship Scheme.

Students from seven educational institutions in Gilgit-Baltistan will benefit from the initiative. The scholarships will be awarded by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday.

Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat said the scholarships are a gift from the provincial government to students of Gilgit-Baltistan.

He added that the Honhaar Scholarship Scheme includes a quota for students from every province, extending the program’s benefits beyond Punjab.

The minister also announced that scholarships for students from Azad Jammu and Kashmir will be introduced in the coming days.
