Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has announced a fivefold increase in the cash award for top-performing matriculation students, raising it from Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 100,000.
The minister made the announcement while releasing the 2026 annual matriculation examination results for all educational boards across Punjab.
Rana Sikandar Hayat said all boards announced the results simultaneously as part of efforts to improve transparency. He also announced that position holders will receive a laptop in addition to the enhanced cash prize.
He said authorities used modern technology for the first time to prepare the examination results. Students can now download officially verified result cards online, while private school students can access verified result cards through their institutions’ online portals without additional verification.
The minister also announced the launch of an AI-powered chatbot to provide students with instant access to examination-related information.
He said the Punjab government is accelerating the digitalization of educational boards. From next year, authorities will introduce a screen-marking system and make the centralized marking process more transparent. Students will also be able to review their papers through a QR code-based system.
Rana Sikandar Hayat said authorities received no complaints this year about the alleged sale of examination centers and claimed they reduced cheating networks by 95 percent across Punjab. He also said enrollment at public universities has increased significantly.
