The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has launched the National Talent Identification and Verification System (NTIVS), a digital and merit-based platform aimed at identifying young athletes for national-level opportunities.

The initiative has been introduced to address a major gap in Pakistan’s sports system, where many talented athletes often depend on personal connections, informal channels, or limited exposure to get noticed.

Through NTIVS, PSB aims to create a transparent and documented process where young athletes can apply and be assessed purely on merit.

The system is open to Pakistani nationals aged between 12 and 25 years. Athletes from all PSB-affiliated sports can apply, except cricket.

Applications can be submitted online through the PSB website in both Urdu and English. The registration process is free of cost, and applications will remain open throughout the year.

According to the process, applications will first be reviewed by an independent panel of experts. Shortlisted athletes will then be referred to the relevant National Sports Federations for technical evaluation and trials.

The final selection will be made by the respective federations, while PSB will act as a facilitator to ensure transparency and integrity in the process.

Physical evaluation camps will also be held at designated centers in Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, Muzaffarabad, Gilgit, and Skardu. This will help provide access to athletes from remote and underserved areas.

A key part of NTIVS is documentation and accountability. Applicants will be required to submit performance footage and verifiable achievements, while written feedback will be provided at each stage.

The system will also help build a national talent database to support long-term planning and better resource allocation in sports development.

PSB Director General Yasir Pirzada said the initiative is “a step towards transforming talent discovery into a transparent, inclusive, and merit-driven national system.”

He added that the system is designed to ensure that “no talented athlete is left unseen due to lack of access or opportunity.”
