The Balochistan government has imposed a province-wide ban on physical punishment in both government and private schools, with the education department warning of action against anyone found violating the order.

A formal notification issued by the Balochistan Education Department said corporal punishment of students would no longer be tolerated in any educational institution across the province.

Under the decision, teachers and schools found involved in such incidents will face departmental as well as legal action.

The department said the move followed reports of corporal punishment in some educational institutions, describing such cases as against children’s basic rights and harmful to a healthy learning environment.

School administrations have been directed to ensure that students are provided a safe, respectful, and positive educational atmosphere.

According to the department, the ban is aimed at protecting students’ rights, safeguarding their mental and physical well-being, and promoting a more constructive and reform-focused culture in schools.
