Private schools have called for scrapping the weekly Friday holiday, with the demand raised during a meeting of stakeholders from across Punjab.

The meeting, chaired by Pak Aiwan-e-Taleem head Qazi Naeem Anjum, focused on academic performance and administrative issues facing private institutions.

Qazi Naeem Anjum said online classes cannot yield effective results and emphasized that the academic calendar should include at least 210 days of classroom-based learning.

He said delays in the printing of textbooks led to academic loss for students and stressed that books should be published on time next year. He also urged the Lahore Board to immediately grant an extension in affiliations for private schools.

The meeting was attended by Syed Faisal Gilani, Saleem Awan, Hassan Minhas, Muhammad Usman, Umar Munir, Mudassar Hameed, Aftab Alam, Nazir Ahmad, Rana Mushtaq, Khizar Hameed, Shafqat Mahmood, and Muhammad Imran.
