The Ministry of Religious Affairs has given private Hajj operators three days to activate their packages under the 2027 private Hajj scheme or face the possible confiscation of their quota.
According to ministry sources, August 31 has been set as the final deadline for registered Hajj companies to complete the activation of their package categories on the Hajj Management System.
They said that if the instructions are not followed within the given time, the inactive quota may be confiscated and distributed to other Hajj companies.
Sources added that part of the unused quota could also be shifted to the government Hajj scheme.
Under the private Hajj scheme, bookings have so far been made for only 54 pilgrims out of the allocated 71,684 seats in five days, leaving 99.9% of the quota still unused.
The booking ratio stands at just 0.1%, while time is running out for operators to activate the full Hajj packages.
The ministry has already sent a letter to the registered Hajj companies, directing them to activate all package categories according to the allocated quota.
For the first time, pilgrims will also be able to select private Hajj packages through the Ministry of Religious Affairs website.
Sources said collection of dues for the private scheme began on August 23.
Under the 40% quota, payment for Hajj expenses is being collected against 71,684 seats in the private scheme.
