Pakistan has extended its ban on Indian aircraft using its airspace until August 24, 2026, the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) announced.

The PAA issued a new Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) on government directives. The notice extends restrictions that have been in place since April 23, 2025.

Under the latest NOTAM, Pakistan’s airspace will remain closed to all Indian-registered aircraft. The ban also applies to aircraft operated, owned, or leased by Indian airlines and operators, including military flights.

The previous restriction, which had already been extended in May 2026, was scheduled to expire at 4:59 a.m. on July 24. The latest NOTAM formally extends the existing restrictions for another month, until August 24, 2026.

The airspace restrictions have disrupted Indian carriers, forcing them to take longer routes for flights to Europe, the Middle East, and Central Asia, resulting in greater financial impact and extended travel times.

Pakistan and India have kept their airspaces closed to each other’s carriers since late April 2025, following heightened tensions after a deadly attack in the Pahalgam area of Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
