Men in Pakistan are increasingly approaching the Federal Ombudsperson for Protection Against Harassment over workplace harassment, with official documents showing that 521 men filed complaints in a single year.
According to details, a total of 1,290 men and women lodged harassment complaints with the federal ombudsperson during the year, out of which 1,104 cases were disposed of.
Of the total complaints, 769 were filed by women and 521 by men, meaning men accounted for roughly 40 percent of all reported cases.
The highest number of complaints from both men and women was recorded at the ombudsperson’s head office in Islamabad, followed by Punjab.
Among male complainants, Islamabad recorded the highest number of cases, while Punjab ranked second. In other regions, 42 men in Peshawar, 24 in Karachi, and two in Balochistan approached the ombudsperson over workplace harassment.
For women, 496 complaints were filed from Islamabad, while 154 cases were reported from Punjab during the same period.
The figures suggest that while women still make up the larger share of complainants, a significant number of men are also now formally reporting workplace harassment through official channels.
