The Red Line project on University Road has drawn renewed criticism from residents after a recently reopened section of the road reportedly began sinking within days of reopening to traffic.
Authorities had earlier restored traffic flow on the section between Safari Park and Nipa Chowrangi following construction work. However, residents said several parts of the road later developed depressions measuring around four to six inches, raising concerns about the quality of construction work.
Citizens also pointed to sewer manhole covers protruding above the road surface, describing them as a safety hazard for motorists, particularly motorcyclists. Residents expressed concern that the uneven road surface could lead to accidents as traffic continues to move through the affected area.
The Red Line construction project on University Road has already caused major disruption for commuters over the past four and a half years due to prolonged delays and ongoing work.
Following the emergence of the latest issues, traffic was reportedly diverted to an adjacent route after the affected section of the road was closed again for corrective work.
