Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has directed authorities to complete the Islamabad Expressway rehabilitation and expansion project within a few months instead of the originally planned one-year period.
Naqvi issued the instructions during a visit to the project site on Saturday morning, where he reviewed the ongoing development work.
He said there would be no compromise on the speed, quality, and transparency of the project. According to the interior minister, the development will make travel faster, easier, and more convenient for residents of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
Work has officially begun on the rehabilitation and widening of the deteriorated service road along the Islamabad Expressway.
The 8.25-kilometer project stretches from Faizabad to Koral Chowk and includes the construction of six carriageways, an underpass, and a flyover. These developments are intended to improve traffic flow and reduce disruptions along the busy route.
The Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, and other relevant officials accompanied Naqvi during the visit.
