Flour mill owners announced a reduction of Rs. 8 per kilogram in the ex-mill price of flour, bringing the rate down from Rs. 133 to Rs. 125 per kilogram.
The reduction came as a result of successful negotiations between Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi and flour mill owners at the commissioner’s office. The meeting was held on the instructions of Sindh Chief Secretary Syed Asif Hyder Shah.
According to a press release issued by the commissioner’s office, the meeting was attended by Pakistan Flour Mills Association Chairman Abdul Junaid, flour mill owners, Sindh Food Secretary Ghulam Abbas and other officials.
It was decided that the reduction in the price of flour would be implemented forthwith. Following the decision, wholesale and retail flour prices are also expected to decline.
The Pakistan Flour Mills Association also announced that mill owners would set up fair-price stalls to provide flour to citizens at reduced rates and offer relief to consumers.
