The Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted dust storms, thunderstorms and rain in the upper and central parts of the country from the night of May 2 to May 4.

According to the Met Office, a fresh westerly wave is likely to enter the northwestern parts of Pakistan on the evening of May 2. The system is expected to affect the upper parts of the country until the morning of May 5.

Under this weather system, rain, windstorms, thunderstorms, isolated heavy falls and hailstorms are expected in several regions.

Dust storms, thunderstorms and rain are expected in several parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from the evening of May 2 to May 4, with occasional gaps.

The affected areas include Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Shangla, Buner, Kohistan, Malakand, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Balakot, Haripur, Mardan, Nowshera, Peshawar, Bajaur, Mohmand, Orakzai, Khyber, Swabi, Charsadda, Kohat, Kurram, Hangu, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Tank, Dera Ismail Khan and Waziristan.

Isolated heavy rain and hailstorms may also occur in some areas.

Dust storms, thunderstorms and rain are expected in Islamabad and several parts of Punjab from the evening of May 2 to the night of May 4, with occasional gaps.

The affected areas include Murree, Galiyat, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Jhang, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot and Narowal.

Meanwhile, rain, windstorms, thunderstorms and isolated hailstorms may occur in Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Layyah, Khushab, Noorpur Thal, Multan and Khanewal on May 3 and May 4.

Rain, wind and thunderstorms are expected in Gilgit Baltistan from the night of May 2 to May 5, with occasional gaps.

The affected areas include Diamer, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche and Shigar.

Rain, wind and thunderstorms are expected in Kashmir from the night of May 2 to May 5, with occasional gaps.

The affected areas include Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber and Mirpur.

Some areas may also receive isolated heavy rain and hailstorms.

Windstorms and thunderstorms are expected in parts of Balochistan from May 2 to May 4, with occasional gaps.

The affected areas include Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Qilla Abdullah, Qilla Saifullah, Kohlu, Zhob, Barkhan and Loralai.

Dust thunderstorms are expected in upper Sindh on May 2 and May 3.

The Met Office warned that windstorms, hailstorms and lightning may damage weak structures during the forecast period. Electric poles, billboards and solar panels may be affected.

Landslides may occur in vulnerable areas of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir on May 3 and May 4.

Hailstorms and windstorms may damage standing crops in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and upper Punjab. Farmers have been advised to manage their crops according to the prevailing weather conditions.

The current very hot weather over the plains is likely to ease during the forecast period.

Tourists and travelers have been advised to remain extra cautious and avoid unnecessary travel during the forecast period.

People in affected areas should stay away from weak structures, avoid standing near electric poles and trees during storms, and follow updates from local authorities and the Met Office.
