Saudi Arabia has introduced a mandatory Nusuk food voucher for Umrah pilgrims from Pakistan, India, Egypt, and Bangladesh, with the cost to be included in the overall Umrah visa fee.
The new policy will take effect from 1 Rabi ul Awwal. Under the system, each pilgrim will pay approximately 20 Saudi riyals per day for meals, with the amount automatically added to the visa cost.
As part of the initiative, Saudi authorities have integrated hotel bookings, transportation, meals, and other Umrah related services into a single digital platform through the Nusuk app.
Around 10,000 restaurants in Makkah and Madinah have joined the platform. Each pilgrim will receive a unique code linked to their visa, allowing them to obtain meals from participating restaurants.
Saudi authorities introduced the initiative to standardize food services for Umrah pilgrims, improve service quality, and discourage unregistered service providers.
The policy is expected to increase the overall cost of Umrah packages. Travel agents in Pakistan and the other affected countries are now reviewing their package prices to reflect the additional charges.
