A man shot dead his father-in-law and injured a child over a Rs3,500 dispute in Gujranwala’s Mohallah Rehmanabad, police said on Saturday.

According to police, the victim, identified as Afzal, was passing through a street when his son-in-law confronted him and demanded money.

The verbal dispute escalated quickly, leading to gunfire. Afzal died on the spot, while a young girl standing nearby sustained injuries. The suspect’s brother-in-law reportedly escaped the attack.

The incident has been registered, and an investigation is underway in Gujranwala, where police collected evidence from the crime scene and shifted the body to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ).

In a separate incident in the same city, a young man was killed following a heated argument at a gaming shop. Police said the clash escalated into violence after an exchange of hot words between two individuals.

Authorities confirmed that the victim was taken to the hospital after the incident, where he was pronounced dead. Police have launched a formal investigation into the case and are working to identify further details surrounding the altercation.

Both incidents highlight rising concerns over violent disputes stemming from minor disagreements in the region.
