The South Asia Centre at the London School of Economics and Political Science (London School of Economics and Political Science) has invited applications for its Post-Doctoral Visiting Fellowship for Pakistani researchers for the academic year 2027–28.

The program, run in collaboration with the Charles Wallace Pakistan Trust and the British Council in Pakistan, will allow one selected fellow to spend up to eight weeks at LSE in London conducting short-term post-doctoral research.

According to the announcement, the fellowship includes a monthly stipend of £1,600 along with a £1,250 contribution toward travel-related costs, including visa fees and airfare.

The visit period will be scheduled between September and June in consultation with the selected candidate and the South Asia Centre.

The deadline for applications is 30 June 2027 at 5:00 pm UK time. Applications must be submitted via email only to the Deputy Director of the South Asia Centre. Late submissions will not be considered.

Applicants must be Pakistani citizens residing in Pakistan at the time of application, hold a valid passport, and have completed a PhD focusing on Pakistan studies from a recognized university.

Candidates must also be aged between 30 and 50 years as of 30 June 2027.

The fellowship is open to research in the social sciences and humanities. Preference will be given to interdisciplinary projects and studies examining Pakistan in relation to other South Asian countries.

Applicants are required to submit a research proposal, a completed application form, an updated CV, one published article or PhD chapter, and a copy of their passport.

The research proposal should not exceed three A4 pages and must include a clear title, methodology, and expected outcomes, along with details of materials to be consulted in UK libraries.

Applications will be reviewed by a committee at the South Asia Centre. A shortlist will be prepared, and one candidate will be selected for the fellowship each academic year.

Selected fellows will receive an official invitation letter from LSE for UK visa processing and are required to leave the country upon completion of their research visit.
