Lahore Electric Supply Company has started reinstalling old meters in place of meters that were burnt, damaged, or removed for various reasons.

According to sources, laboratory reports have already been obtained for single-phase and three-phase meters removed on the basis of net metering and net billing.

Meters found to be in proper condition in the lab report are being replaced with defective-code meters.

The process of installing old meters has begun in all relevant LESCO offices, while replacement of burnt and damaged meters is also continuing.

Sources said that under NEPRA rules, burnt meters must be replaced without charging consumers any extra amount.

However, due to the non-approval of a budget for the purchase of AMI smart meters, the company is currently installing conventional old meters.

LESCO is moving ahead with meter installation and replacement at the office level, while further action on net metering and net billing cases will be taken on the basis of the available reports.
