Lenovo has introduced the Tab Plus Gen 2, a new entertainment-focused tablet with a larger display and an upgraded speaker system.

The first Lenovo Tab Plus was announced in mid-2024 with 8 JBL speakers. The second-generation model now comes with 9 JBL speakers.

Because why not?

The Lenovo Tab Plus Gen 2 supports Dolby Atmos. Dolby Audio processing can be set to Dynamic, Movie, and Music modes.

The tablet also includes a Bluetooth speaker mode, allowing users to play music from their phone through the tablet’s louder speaker system.

The Lenovo Tab Plus Gen 2 has a larger 12.1-inch LCD, up from the 11.5-inch display on the previous model.

The screen supports Dolby Vision and HDR10. It has a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels and can reach up to 800 nits in High Brightness Mode.

Lenovo has also added a built-in kickstand to help users place the display at a better angle for watching movies.

The kickstand can rotate 360 degrees, allowing the tablet to be used in portrait orientation, which is better suited for video calls.

The Dimensity 7400 chipset powers the tablet. It comes with 6GB, 8GB, or 12GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage. A microSD card slot is also available, supporting cards up to 2TB.

The Lenovo Tab Plus Gen 2 launches with Android 16. Lenovo says it will receive two OS updates up to Android 18 and four years of security patches until 2030.

The tablet has a 10,200mAh battery, which Lenovo says can last up to 15 hours when streaming YouTube.

It supports 45W charging, but the charger is not included in the box. The USB-C port only supports USB 2.0 speeds. Wireless connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4.

Lenovo will offer the Tab Pen Plus stylus and Lenovo Wireless Keyboard as optional accessories. The large speaker system makes the tablet heavier and thicker than many other 12.1-inch tablets.

It weighs 775g and measures 6.8mm at its thinnest point, while the speaker bump increases thickness to 22.7mm.

Lenovo will also offer the Sleeve Suite for users who plan to carry the tablet around.

The Lenovo Tab Plus Gen 2 will be available in select markets soon. It is priced at $400.

Google searches show pages for the tablet in the UK, Australia, and Singapore, but those pages currently redirect to a generic Lenovo tablet page.

The tablet has already won an iF Design Award.
