Lenovo has introduced the Legion Y960 gaming headset during its latest hardware launch event in China.
The headset is priced at around $88 and comes in black and silver color options. Its main highlight is a physical 7.1 channel surround sound system.
The Legion Y960 is a wired headset. It includes USB-C and USB-A connection options, along with a dedicated 3.5mm microphone port.
The headset is plug-and-play, so users do not need to download drivers before using it. It is compatible with PCs, consoles, handheld gaming devices, and phones.
Lenovo has used a patented six-driver acoustic design inside the earcups to deliver physical 7.1 channel sound.
The setup includes two main 40mm drivers and four secondary 20mm drivers. Lenovo says this hardware-level channel separation helps players identify overlapping in-game sounds such as footsteps, gunfire, and environmental cues with better directional accuracy and lower latency than standard virtual processing.
The headset also has Hi-Res audio certification and a 20Hz to 40kHz frequency response range. It uses titanium-coated diaphragms, which are designed to improve clarity and dynamic range.
The Legion Y960 includes a feature called Soundprint Perspective. Lenovo says the feature is tuned to identify and highlight specific in-game sounds, helping players understand where sounds are coming from.
The headset also comes with an inline controller and a dual sound card setup. This lets users switch between 7.1 and 2.0 channel audio directly from the cable.
Users can also switch between Game, Music, and Cinema sound profiles without installing extra software.
For voice chat, the Y960 includes a detachable unidirectional microphone.
The microphone has a cardioid pickup pattern and AI environmental noise cancellation. It also supports sidetone, allowing users to hear their own voice through the headset and avoid speaking too loudly.
The Lenovo Legion Y960 features customizable RGB lighting with 16 million colors. It also supports Microsoft Dynamic Lighting.
The headset weighs 346 grams and uses a suspended dual side headband design to spread weight across the head. Lenovo says this design is intended to improve comfort during longer use. The fully enclosed ear cushions help block background noise passively.
