Traders across Lahore have urged the government to relax any possible Eid restrictions and allow markets, bazaars, chain stores, and grocery outlets to remain open around the clock during the festive period.

Business representatives say Eid is one of the busiest shopping seasons of the year and an important time for retailers to make strong sales.

They argued that keeping markets open for 24 hours would not only help businesses but also support the wider economy.

Trader leader Shahid Nazir said extended operating hours during Eid could significantly improve business activity and create better economic momentum at a time when commercial activity usually peaks.

Retail chain representatives also backed the demand, saying traders count on Eid sales and should be allowed to benefit from the rush instead of facing restrictions. They said a more flexible approach would help create a better business environment and provide relief to the market.

Shopkeepers also highlighted the importance of grocery stores and supermarkets, noting that people rely on them for essential food items and daily-use products during Eid preparations.

A representative of Lahore Super Market said large numbers of people visit markets in the days leading up to Eid to buy necessities, and keeping shops open would make shopping easier for the public.

Trader bodies have appealed to the government to allow markets to operate without interruption during Eid so that commercial activity remains unaffected and citizens can shop with greater convenience.
