All deported passengers arriving at Allama Iqbal International Airport (AIIA) in Lahore will now be required to undergo HIV screening under a new notification issued by the airport’s Health Department.
The move is part of a broader federal initiative to screen deported citizens upon arrival in Pakistan. Under the plan, Border Health Services will conduct HIV testing at entry points in coordination with the FIA.
The notification has been sent to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Airport Security Force (ASF), and airline officials, directing them to ensure that all deported passengers are screened at the airport.
According to the notification, the tests will be conducted in the isolation rooms at AIIA Lahore. In case of a positive result, health officials will inform the Punjab AIDS Control Programme.
FIA officials have been asked to fully cooperate with the process, while ASF has been directed to deploy a competent team at the testing area in the international arrival lounge.
Airlines bringing deported passengers have also been instructed to contact the Health Department and provide all relevant passenger data before the flight lands.
