Sheikh Zayed Institute and the ChildLife Foundation have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to improve emergency healthcare services for children in Lahore.
The agreement was signed at a ceremony in Islamabad organized by the Ministry of National Health Services. Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal attended the ceremony as the chief guest.
Under the agreement, a modern 10-bed Children’s Emergency Unit will be established at Sheikh Zayed Hospital Lahore.
The new facility will provide timely and quality emergency treatment to children and is aimed at improving access to specialized pediatric emergency care.
Speaking at the ceremony, Health Minister Mustafa Kamal said Pakistan urgently needed modern emergency centers to help reduce child mortality.
He said public-private partnerships could play an important role in improving the country’s healthcare system. He added that the partnership with ChildLife Foundation was part of the government’s broader efforts to modernize emergency services for children.
The minister said the government was also taking steps to improve the performance of public hospitals and provide better healthcare services to citizens.
