The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Elementary and Secondary Education Department has announced summer vacations for schools across the province, but students in summer zone institutions will still attend summer camps during June.
According to the official schedule, primary schools in plain areas will remain closed for summer vacations from June 1 to August 31, 2026. Middle, high, and higher secondary schools in the same areas will observe holidays from June 15 to August 16, 2026.
Despite the vacation schedule, schools in summer zones will continue holding summer camps in June. These camps will run from Monday to Thursday.
Under the timetable, classes for primary and middle school students will be held from 7am to 9am, while high and higher secondary students will attend sessions until 9:40am.
The schedule also outlines the subjects to be taught during the camps. Primary students will study English, General Science, General Knowledge, Mathematics, and Urdu. Middle school students will attend classes in English, Mathematics, General Science, and Urdu.
For high and higher secondary students, separate subjects have been assigned for science and humanities groups.
The department has also issued a separate vacation plan for colder mountainous districts. Educational institutions in these winter zones will remain closed from July 1 to July 31, 2026.
School heads have been allowed to adjust subjects and class duration according to academic needs, but student engagement cannot continue beyond 10am.
The notification further states that HSSC students will only be exempted on days when practical examinations are being conducted by the relevant boards.
