Lucky Motor Corporation (LMC) has discontinued the KIA Picanto by removing the hatchback from its official vehicle lineup and closing new bookings, signaling the end of the model’s nearly six-year run in Pakistan.
The company has not announced the decision officially, but it has removed the Picanto from its website and stopped accepting new orders.
LMC introduced the KIA Picanto in Pakistan in September 2019. The company locally assembled the hatchback and marketed it as an affordable, fuel-efficient city car with modern features.
Despite a strong launch, the Picanto failed to gain a significant share of Pakistan’s competitive hatchback market. Industry observers attribute the model’s discontinuation to consistently weak sales. Many buyers also criticized the vehicle for its lower resale value and limited availability of spare parts.
The Picanto also faced stiff competition because of its higher price than key rivals and changing consumer preferences. Buyers increasingly prioritized affordability, resale value, after-sales service, and easy access to spare parts, which further reduced the model’s appeal.
Although the Picanto has exited the Pakistani market, Kia continues to offer the updated third-generation Picanto in several international markets. The latest version features a second facelift with a redesigned exterior, upgraded lighting, a refreshed interior, updated technology, and enhanced safety features.
