Karachi has set up a special police station to stop the growing incidents of water theft in the city.

Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab formally inaugurated the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation’s dedicated police station. He said the Water Corporation has now begun strict implementation of a zero-tolerance policy against water theft, illegal connections, and the hydrant mafia.

Wahab said this is the first time in Karachi’s history that a special police station has been established under the Water Corporation Act with full legal powers.

He added that all water theft cases will now be registered at this special police station, which will speed up investigation, case registration, and legal action. The authority will also take strict action against those involved in illegal hydrants and unauthorized use of government water.
